Traumatic Birth Recovery
This page is about the work of recovering after a hard birth, not about deciding whether your birth counts as traumatic.
You've already lived through the birth. What we do together is the part after: the body that still braces, the memory that intrudes, the trust in yourself and your providers that took a hit.
What Recovery Tends to Involve
Recovery is rarely a straight line. It often includes physical sensations tied to the birth, replaying decisions made in the delivery room, and a wariness around future medical appointments or another pregnancy.
-
01
Processing the sequence of events without having to narrate every detail out loud
-
02
Working with your nervous system's stored response to the birth, not just the story of it
-
03
Making sense of medical decisions made under pressure
-
04
Rebuilding trust with your body and, if it matters here, your care team
You don't have to relive it to recover from it.
How I Work
I use Brainspotting and somatic work alongside talk therapy, so we're not relying only on words to move through something that lives partly in the body. Many patients also choose an intensive format to do concentrated work over a short stretch of time.
Who This Is For
Patients who had a birth that didn't go as planned, felt frightening, involved a medical emergency, or left them feeling unseen or unheard by their providers.
Ready to Talk About Your Birth
A free consultation is a low pressure way to see if this is the right fit.
