Specialty

Postpartum Anxiety

The months after birth bring a particular kind of anxiety: intrusive thoughts, a body that won't fully rest, an alarm system stuck in the on position.

This page is about the postpartum period specifically, the weeks and months after your baby arrives, when your body is recovering and your nervous system is on high alert.

Common Patterns

  • 01

Intrusive thoughts about harm coming to the baby that are distressing precisely because they run against everything you feel

  • 02

Hypervigilance: checking breathing, checking temperature, checking again

  • 03

Waking at every small sound, even on nights when the baby is sleeping

  • 04

A body that stays braced long after the birth itself is over

An intrusive thought is not a plan.

How We Work

We work with your nervous system directly, using somatic work and Brainspotting alongside talk therapy, so your body has a chance to learn that the danger has passed. We also look at the intrusive thoughts themselves, so they carry less weight and less shame.

What This Is Not

This isn't about assessing whether you're a safe parent, momma. It's about helping a good parent get some rest from a mind and body still in survival mode.

You Don't Have to Carry This Alone
