Underneath, something hasn't settled. The patients I see in this group are often physicians, attorneys, executives, entrepreneurs, and other women who built a career on being the one who handles things. Motherhood, and particularly a difficult birth, tested that in a way nothing else has. You might be a year or more past delivery and still notice your body tightening at the mention of the hospital. You might replay decisions that were made in the delivery room, or feel a persistent unease you can't name to colleagues or even to your partner. You might be managing a demanding job and a new baby and feel that the anxiety underneath is starting to leak into everything. I work with birth trauma, perinatal anxiety, and the particular strain that shows up when you're also managing ADHD, perfectionism, or burnout. Using Brainspotting, Internal Family Systems, and somatic work, we address what's held in the body as well as what's understood in the mind. Being capable and being unwell are not opposites. Sessions are available in person at my Prince George office or by telehealth anywhere in Virginia, which many professional patients prefer for the flexibility.
