I work with patients who feel anxious through this whole window, not only after the baby arrives. Perinatal anxiety spans pregnancy through the first year or more after birth. It shows up as constant checking, catastrophic thinking about the baby's safety, and a mind that won't settle even when everything is, by most measures, fine. ## What It Can Look Like - 01 Researching every symptom, every appointment, every decision, well past the point of usefulness - 02 Difficulty letting anyone else, including a partner, take care of the baby - 03 A running list of worst case scenarios that plays in the background of ordinary days - 04 Physical tension: jaw, shoulders, a stomach that won't settle Vigilance is exhausting, even when it feels necessary. ## How We Work I use Internal Family Systems and somatic work to understand what the anxiety is protecting and to help your body learn that it can stand down, at least some of the time. This isn't about talking you out of caring. It's about loosening the grip. ## Who I See Physicians, attorneys, executives, and other accomplished women who are used to managing risk and are now pointing that same intensity at motherhood, at real cost to themselves.
