Your childhood may not have looked troubled from the outside. There may have been no clear crisis. There was, instead, a steady absence of attunement that you learned to work around. ## What This Often Produces - 01 Becoming the emotionally responsible one in the family, starting young - 02 Difficulty identifying your own needs, since they were rarely asked about - 03 A pull toward relationships where you're again the steady, capable one - 04 Guilt about having needs at all, even now You were allowed to need things then. You still are. ## How I Work Internal Family Systems helps identify the part of you that took on adult responsibility too early, and gives it a different role. Somatic work addresses the bodily habits of self suppression that often outlast the childhood that formed them.
